When is New York Fashion Week?

Whether you are a fashion industry professional or just a fan of fashion, New York Fashion Week is an experience you won’t want to miss. It is the premier fashion event in the world. In addition to fashion shows, it features industry events and presentations. The schedule of events can be found here. The fashion week is scheduled to run from September 6 to September 11, with events on September 12.

The New York Fashion Week calendar includes over 100 shows and events, including runway shows and industry presentations. Each show presents a different designer. Some designer events are open to the general public, while others are hosted by big labels. There are also appointment-only viewings. This means that seats are assigned at the door, and late arrivals cannot be guaranteed a front-row seat.

New York Fashion Week began as Press Week in 1943. The event was a way for American designers to show their collections to journalists. However, in the 1960s, it became a pop culture event and was attended by celebrities. During the 1970s, Press Week became a fashion week, with celebrities stepping out in bold outfits.

After the early Press Week shows were held in one location for journalists, designers started spreading out to other venues. In 1993, the fashion shows were branded “New York Fashion Week.” In 2010, the fashion week expanded to nearly 300 shows.

The event is organized by WME/IMG and the Council of Fashion Designers America. During the week, designers will present their Spring/Summer 2023 collections. This season, there are 109 confirmed designers. Some fashion names are returning, while others are new to the schedule.

Some designers will host digital extensions of their collections. Using social media, designers will give their followers a glimpse into the backstage production. Some designers will Livestream their runway shows, which is a good way to get an up-close look at the collection. You can sign up for an account on Runway360 to get access to digital shows.

The first New York Fashion Week in 1993 was branded “7th on Sixth.” The next year, the event was renamed “New York Fashion Week.” In 2010, the shows moved back to Bryant Park, a central location in the city.

New York Fashion Week is a five-and-a-half-day event, which runs from September 6 to September 11. During the week, designer packages are available. These packages include front-row seats, itinerary planning, and meet-and-greet events. However, the price can be steep. The package includes a welcome drink, a backstage tour, and front-row seating for the runway shows.

A new generation of fashion labels is bringing West Coast-inspired aesthetics to New York. For example, Marcelo Gaia is a Brazilian-born stylist who launched his own brand, Mirror Palais, in 2019. Narciso Rodriguez will show his SS’23 collection at NYFW. Known for creating a slip dress from Cerruti’s days, Rodriguez has now created a collection for Zara.

During New York Fashion Week, you can see new collections by 109 designers. This year, the schedule will include designers such as LaQuan Smith, Tory Burch, and Jonathan Simkhai.
